Citizens of several countries have the opportunity to obtain an electronic visa to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan. The basis for its registration is visa support, which is an official invitation with a unique number registered in the database of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An electronic visa can be issued for the following travel purposes:
Medical treatment (category C12)
Business trip (categories B1, B2, B3)
Tourism (category B12)
Validity period and multiplicity of the electronic visa
Electronic visas exist only in a single-entry format; multiple-entry visas are not provided.
  • 90 days
    Stay for no more than 30 days for categories B1, B2, B3, B12
  • 180 days
    Staying for up to 90 days, for category C12
An electronic visa is valid only when crossing the border through international airports (Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, Aktau and others). Overland entry or through airports without international status is not possible.
Advantages and deadlines of applying for an electronic visa
  • The standard procedure for obtaining a visa:
    1. Preparation of the invitation letter.
    2. Visit the Embassy of Kazakhstan and apply for a visa in your passport.
  • Electronic procedure:
    1. The invitation stage is the same — a letter and visa support, usually prepared in 5 working days, sometimes up to 30 days (due to coordination with the National Security Committee).
    2. The visa is issued online:
    • Registration on the portal,
    • Filling out the questionnaire,
    • Payment of the consular fee,
    • Obtaining a visa in your personal account.
    The result is available in less than 30 minutes, without a visit to the diplomatic mission. The visa is issued only for the main applicant.
Instructions for obtaining an e-Visa on the portal
1. Log in to your personal account on the visa and migration portal
2. Select the "Electronic Visa" option.
3. Specify the purpose, multiplicity and select "Get a visa".
4. Enter the invitation details and passport information.
5. Pay the consular fee.
6. Download an e‑visa with a QR code in the "Visas" section.
The cost of applying for an e‑Visa
  • 0.5 MCI
    The host party pays for the invitation (visa support).
  • 60 USD
    tourist visa (to be paid on the portal)
  • 80 USD
    business or medical (to be paid on the portal)
Exemption from the consular fee

Such categories of visitors as:
1. Members of official foreign delegations do not pay the fee.
2. Participants of national and international events.
3. Persons invited by the Kazakh authorities.
4. Foreigners with a humanitarian mission.
5. Employees of international organizations.
6. Invited by diplomats, on the principle of reciprocity.
7. Holders of diplomatic and official passports.
8. Children under 16 years of age (reciprocally).
9. Ethnic Kazakhs without citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
10. Ex-citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who come to the funeral of relatives.
11. For investor, diplomatic and official visas.
12. For re-issuing visas instead of cancelled ones by mistake.
Passport requirements
The passport must:
  • Reality
    Be valid and be authentic (without blots and damages)
  • Pages
    Contain at least 2 blank pages (for most visas)
  • Date
    Its validity period should expire no earlier than 3 months after the visa expires.
  • Extension
    Do not contain marks about the extension of the validity period
