A work permit grants a foreign citizen the right to sign an employment contract in the Republic of Kazakhstan. A work visa, in turn, allows you to legally enter the country for work. The validity period of the visa depends on the duration of the issued work permit or other supporting documents.
Obtaining a visa is possible through the Embassy or Consulate of Kazakhstan in the country of citizenship or in the state of permanent residence, if there are necessary grounds.

Citizens of 48 countries with a visa-free regime can also obtain a visa while in Kazakhstan. In some cases, a business visa can be converted to a work visa without leaving Kazakhstan. However, not every business visa can be renewed.
A C3 visa is issued for foreign citizens arriving in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the purpose of employment, as well as for their family members.
A multiple-entry work visa is issued for a period of 1 to 3 years, or for a period corresponding to the validity of the work permit. The procedure for obtaining a work visa includes several stages. To apply abroad, you need an invitation letter from an employer in Kazakhstan.
Consideration of an invitation takes an average of 5 business days from the moment of its registration. In some cases, depending on the applicant's nationality or previous work history, the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan may extend the approval period to 30 calendar days.
Foreign citizens have the opportunity to obtain a C3 type visa to work in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exception is citizens of the EAEU countries and a number of CIS countries (for example, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan), who do not need such a visa.
